Day 2, Part 2: Sunday, November 4, 2001

Distant view of 'The Eye' from Buckingham Palace

The ferris wheel in the above picture is called "The Eye." It is sponsored by British Airways. (I mention this, because it is repeated multiple times when you are standing in line to get on The Eye and when you are actually on The Eye.) This picture was taken when we were standing next to the statue that is in front of Buckingham Palace. The Eye is the largest ferris wheel in the world. It was built for the millenium celebration. We decided to walk over to see what it was like. It is across Westminster Bridge from the Parliament Building and Big Ben.

Tree-lined area at the edge of St. James Park

The above picture was taken when we were on our way to The Eye. We walked along the southern edge of St. James Park. I turned around and noticed that to our left was an area that had two rows of trees. I snapped a quick shot. You can see the walkway to the left.

'The Eye'

In order to get to The Eye, we had to walk next to the Parliament Building and Big Ben. Then we walked across Westminster Bridge. The above shots were taken from the bridge. The building to the right of The Eye is the County Hall where an exhibit of Salvador Dali art was available.
