This is a street in Trim called Castle Street, which is across from the castle complex. Trim is within eyesight of the Hill of Tara.
Here is a picture of the walls of the castle. The main fortress rises above the walls. The main fortress was built in the 12th century by Hugh de Lacy, and it was subsequently enlarge with new floors. To the right is the remains of the bell tower for St. Mary's, an Augustinian monastery. It is called the Yellow Steeple.
This is the entry into the fortress area through a drawbridge. It was easily defended.
One of the last things that was built at the main complex was this room, which was a large room where the lord and his vassals would meet. The large flat stones in the ground are the foundation stones. There is kind of a low wall along the bottom of that main wall to the left. The floor sat on the low wall, and stones that supported the floor in the middle were placed on the foundation stones.
