A better photograph of Talbot Castle and Yellow Steeple. The man who became the first Duke of Wellington (after he defeated Napoleon at Waterloo) went to school at the Talbot Castle until he was 17. Then he went to Oxford and into the military. Later he became Prime Minister of England. Even though he was born in Ireland and had his early education there, he later denied that he was Irish. He said that a person could be born in a stable without being a horse. That must have been insulting to the Irish at the time, but I guess what he meant is that he was descended from English, since so many English had settled in Ireland.
