Gallarus Oratory

This was a bed of stone just to the left of the Gallarus Oratory. It made me think that it was the foundation of another building that was no longer there.

A cross is etched into the stone near the top.

This is the Gallarus Oratory. It is in the middle of the Dingle Peninsula. The building is made from dry-fitted stone (no mortar). It was built by Christians about 1300 years ago. It's shape is compared to an upside down boat.

My wife is about 5'2" tall, so you can get an idea of how big the building is. The building is approximately 8m long by 5m wide and 5m high. It is still waterproof after surviving gales from the Atlantic.
