The Kilmalkedar Church is close to the Gallarus Oratory -- maybe a couple kilometers away. This church was the Norman center of worship for this part of the Dingle Peninsula. It was built in the 12th century. The first picture is a stone that has Morse code-type markings. Scholars have been able to decypher it. A series of dashes/slashes will correspond to a certain letter based on which side the dashes go and how many there were. (There could be up to five of a type of marking.) There are also other markings that they used besides the dashes. There was a rather large display of these along with their explanation at Trinity College in Dublin.
This stone with markings was on the inside of the church next to the door. You can see it in the next picture.
