The original structure of Strawberry Mansion, the central part of the building, was completed in 1789 by Judge William Lewis. The two sections on either side were built around 1819 by Judge Joseph Hemphill. The city of Philadelphia purchased it in 1871, and it was turned into a restaurant where it became known for serving strawberries and cream -- subsequenly being renamed "Strawberry Mansion." The mansion was closed, so all the photos are exteriors.
