DAY 2, Part 2: Winterthur

Winterthur

We took the tram through the grounds. I took this as we were passing the side of the building. Winterthur is the former home of Henry DuPont. Winterthur is a fascinating museum. Mr. DuPont began collecting furniture and other Early American objects, but he didn't stop there. He began collecting rooms from old buildings that were being torn down. Then he would have his architects figure out how to put all of the rooms together so that they flowed in multiple floors of a mansion. He then furnished his home with the furniture and other objects that he collected. Eventually, he set it up as a museum. You can read more about it at this website: Winterthur.
