The Lucerne Cathedral

The Lucerne town walls are well-preserved. It contains several towers, each of them unique.

This is a carving to commemorate Swiss soldiers who died defending the French royal family
during the French Revolution. The image is of a lion that has a broken spear coming out of its side.
It is claimed that the artist was disgruntled about the amount he received for the sculpture,
so he carved the outline of it in the shape of a pig.

Lucerne and the surrounding area is a center of wood carving.
