Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument
Friday, October 10

The Kasha Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument is near the Jemez area, north of I-25 and west of Santa Fe. (Kasha-Katuwe means "white cliffs.") The Tent Rocks are topped by a hard rock that many times is shaped like a Hersheys Kiss. Under the hard rock is softer rock that has been eroded over time. One thing that is impressive is the thickness of some of the layers. If you go, be sure to carry bottles of water.

The longer walk will take you up a path to the top of a mesa. This is one of the views on the way up.
