The Rodin Museum

Rodin Monument

Auguste Rodin (1840-1917). The Rodin Museum in Philadelphia is the largest collection of Rodin sculpture outside of Paris. The Museum is the result of the collection of Rodin sculpture by Jules Mastbaum (1872-1926). In 1923, Mastbaum began collecting Rodin sculpture. He had made his fortune in movie theater palaces. He paid for sculptures to be recast in the original molds that were created for Rodin. The Museum was placed on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. It was completed in 1929.
